- Status
- In force
- Runs
- 25 July 2022 to 24 July 2027
- Designated
- 5 April 2022

- £350 per property, paid in full when you apply online. Members of a landlord accreditation scheme, such as DASH, pay £250. The fee isn't refunded if the application fails.
- Applies to
- Every privately rented home on the listed streets of Stanton Hill and Sutton Central (New Cross) in Sutton-in-Ashfield, flats included, each flat needing its own licence. A shared house with fewer than five tenants needs one selective licence for the whole house. Some streets are covered only for certain house numbers, so check the council's street list. Exempt: HMOs that need a mandatory licence, homes let by social landlords or the council, homes under a management order or with a temporary exemption, and the kinds of letting exempt nationally, such as holiday lets, business tenancies, some long leases and homes let to close relatives of the owner.

Area covered
The scheme’s area lies within these wards: Stanton Hill & Teversal, Sutton Central & New Cross. The council publishes the exact area as a map or a street list, so check your address against it.
What this means for landlords
Selective licensing applies to privately rented homes of any size in the designated area, including single lets. Letting an unlicensed property inside the area can mean a civil penalty of up to £40,000 and a rent repayment order of up to 24 months’ rent.

This checker reflects HouseFile’s records of council licensing designations, not the councils’ live registers. Our records indicate the position at the verification date shown on each result. Schemes are designated, renewed and revoked throughout the year, and postcode-level lookups are approximate near scheme boundaries. Always confirm with the council before letting or buying a property, using the source link on each card. This is general information, not legal advice.
