Selective licensing · City of Doncaster Council
Doncaster Borough Council designation of Hexthorpe as an area for selective licensing (notice: HOUSING ACT 2004 – SECTIONS 80-84 DESIGNATION OF HEXTHORPE AS AN AREA FOR SELECTIVE LICENSING; council page name: Hexthorpe Selective Licensing)
- Status
- In force
- Runs
- 1 March 2022 to 28 February 2027
- Designated
- 15 November 2021
- Fee
- Licences run to the end of the scheme. For a home that first needed a licence after the scheme started, the fee falls each year: in the fifth and last year it's £280, £200 when you apply and £80 if the licence is granted (in earlier years £600, £520, £440 and £360). A home that has needed a licence since the scheme started may pay more, so check the fee with the council. Members of a recognised landlord body, such as a landlord association, get £50 off the second part. There is an extra £50 if the council has had to deal with your unlicensed property, or if you apply more than three months after the property needed a licence.
- Applies to
- Every privately rented home in the area of Hexthorpe shown on the council's map. Exempt: HMOs that need an HMO licence, homes let by a housing association or other registered social landlord, homes run by the council, police, fire service or NHS, business tenancies, leases of more than 21 years, homes let to family members, an owner's home with lodgers who share it, homes under a management order, and the other kinds of letting exempt nationally. Check the council's map for your street.

This checker reflects HouseFile’s records of council licensing designations, not the councils’ live registers. Our records indicate the position at the verification date shown on each result. Schemes are designated, renewed and revoked throughout the year, and postcode-level lookups are approximate near scheme boundaries. Always confirm with the council before letting or buying a property, using the source link on each card. This is general information, not legal advice.
