Fee
£750 per property: £450 when you apply and £300 when the draft licence is issued. There's £50 off the second part if you're accredited with LLAS, the NRLA, UKALA or the BLA, or a member of ARLA Propertymark or Safeagent, and £100 off for an EPC of C or above. Where one person owns and manages several rented flats in a building, each flat after the first is £100 less. You lose the discounts if the council has had to ask twice for documents or has sent you a warning letter for not licensing the property.
Applies to
Every privately rented house or flat in the 17 named wards, unless it needs an HMO licence, is let by a social landlord, or is a kind of letting the law exempts.

What this means for landlords

Selective licensing applies to privately rented homes of any size in the designated area, including single lets. Letting an unlicensed property inside the area can mean a civil penalty of up to £40,000 and a rent repayment order of up to 24 months’ rent.
