Hackney Additional Licensing Scheme 2026

- £1,400 per property, paid in two parts: £840 when you apply, which isn't refunded, and £560 when the licence is granted. Discounts come off the second part: £100 for accredited landlords (LLAS, NRLA, UKALA, ARLA or Safeagent), £100 for an EPC of B or above and £50 for an EPC of C. Apply at the same time for several homes you own and manage in the same block or building and each one after the first is £100 less. You lose the discounts if the council has had to ask twice for documents or has sent you a warning letter for not licensing the property.

- HMOs across Hackney that don't need a mandatory licence, including shared houses and flats and bedsits let to three or four people from two or more households who share facilities. Converted blocks of flats that count as section 257 HMOs are excluded.
