Newham Selective Licensing Designation 2023

Fee: £750 for a five-year licence, paid in two parts: £400 and £350. Accredited landlords get £50 off, and another £50 if the home has an EPC of C or above. Where you own and manage several flats in the same block, each one after the first costs £700. A newly let home with an EPC of C or above costs £400.
Applies to: Privately rented homes in the 22 named wards let to one household or two unrelated sharers. This is Newham's third five-year selective scheme in a row, approved by the Secretary of State.

Selective licensing applies to privately rented homes of any size in the designated area, including single lets. Letting an unlicensed property inside the area can mean a civil penalty of up to £40,000 and a rent repayment order of up to 24 months’ rent.
